19th Century Continental Style Marquetry Bedside Cabinet Box

Dimensions:  48cm wide x 44cm deep x 82cm high.  The large drawer measures 37.5cm wide x 38cm deep x 35.5cm high.  Cupboard measures 32cm wide x 27.5cm deep x 28cm high.  Smaller drawer 27cm wide x 25.5cm deep x 28cm high

A really unusual piece, that I can't quite define.  Possibly a piece that was created to hold the toilet bowl.. but I am not sure.  The bottom section has a beautiful cotton velvet lined drawer, there is a small drawer.

This is not a piece for someone who wants a perfect piece.  You can see from the pictures, and please study the pictures carefully, you can clearly see lots of areas where the marquetry has been damaged, lost, cracked.. 

Created in the 19th century in the Continental style, the workman I feel was considerably better at creating floral imagery than people, but that said, this piece is absolutely unique, is full of character and has been well loved and used over the years.  A fantastic talking point ready for creative use.
